Denmark won its first game at the WFC 2019. Japan was beaten with 5-0.
We asked Cecilia Di Nardo about the game:
“I think we had a good start in the first period. But In the middle of the second period and the rest of the game, our play began to be a bit stressful and with lack of patience.Of course we are very satisfied with a victory in our first game. All of our players got time on the field, and it feels great to start the tournament for real.”

Di Nardo is runner-up in the all-time WFC top (goal) scorers’ list. When asked about her amount of goals – 39 in total now in different WFCs, only a few less than leader Corin Rüttimann – she answers:
“It feels good to get a good start, but I do not have focus on my personal success, I want to do my best for the team. But of course I am honored to be in company with a great player as Ruttimann.”
About tomorrow’s game against Norway, Di Nardo lets us know: “We need to be more balanced in our defense, and be effective in our offense. Norway are playing well, we need to do good to beat them tomorrow.”
