Germany claims 7th place after beating Latvia: 3-4

In the ranking battle for 7th place, Germany surprised Latvia: 3-4.

Two years ago, Latvia battled for 5th place, but now the team fell back to 8th spot. At first, it didn’t look like this, however, as Latvia took a 2-0 lead within minutes. First Inga Ametere scored, followed by a shot from Laura Gaugere.

Germany struck back in the first period already (powerplay) and even turned around the score in the second period. Pauline Baumgarten equalized, after which she also scored the 2-3 (shorthanded). The 2-4 followed shortly after, when Ina Jensen scored in powerplay.
