Alžbeta Ďuríková (Slovakia): “It’s been like a roller-coaster”

Alžbeta Ďuríková is a player from team Slovakia en SC Classic (Finland). An interview about the WFC and the current season.

How has your road to the tournament been?

It’s been like a roller-coaster, we had ups and downs like everyone else but we hope we tune the form well and we will be at top of it at the championship.

Which teams did you play against at the WFCQ and how were these matches?

We had easier opponents in the WFCQ so we had a chance to try a lot of new things and get new players involved.

In the group, we played against Latvia, which we will meet at WFC as well and so it was good to know their game. Our opponents were Latvia, Hungary, and the Netherlands.

In the WFC group stage games, you meet Sweden, the Czech Republic, and Latvia. Thoughts?

We know we’ll have tough opponents but finally, we get the opportunity to play with quality opponents and we want to play as good as possible and at least win one game in the group.

How is your preparation for the WFC?

I’m trying to train, eat, sleep and regenerate well.

Our team is preparing itself at the national camps where the game plan is set and details are fine-tuned.

In 2017, Slovakia reached its best result ever with the 5th place. What do you have to do to reach an even higher ranking this year’s edition?

We will have to leave the whole heart on the pitch and believe in ourselves and in a common goal.

How is the current season going?

I currently play for SC Classic in Finland. From the beginning of the season, we did not do very well, but now we have a winning line and we are reaching the top.

What is your position in the field at your club, and does it differ from how you have to play in the national team?

Although the game system is different in the club and in the national team, my position remains and so I can improve in it every day.

How and when did you start playing floorball?

I started to play at elementary school after my friends called me to join them.

As a kid, I played tennis for a while and like every child, I played all outdoor games with my friends.

What is your best floorball memory?

My most beautiful floorball memory is the home World Championship in 2017 where we got the best place so far. A lot of fans came to the hall during the WFC, Slovak TV broadcasted each of our games and the floorball madness that we did in Slovakia nobody will ever forget.

When executed well, the slapshot is the fastest shot in floorball. Where do the speed and power come from? That’s what I’m gonna dive into today, helped by ice hockey and… physics! Fact: in 2011, the record for the hardest ice hockey shot was broken: Denis Kulyash (Russia) managed to shoot with a speed of […]
