Switzerland confidently to semifinals – Latvia out

In front of a home audience who joined the party in great numbers, Switzerland celebrated another win. The team’s 4th consecutive win is an important one as it grants a ticket to the WFC2019 semifinals on Saturday. Latvia, the loser of this quarterfinals match will play for 5th position.

For Switzerland it was Isabelle Gerig who stood up in the first minutes of the host team’s game against Latvia with a hattrick before 7.40. It marked the beginning of a match Switzerland dominated from start to finish. By the end of the first period, Switzerland had already increased the gap to 5-0. The Swiss didn’t stop expanding their score in the second period but also lost their focus which results in another 4 goals for the home team but also 2 goals from the Latvians. The game ended 10-4 for Switzerland who are going through to the semis.
