Overtime victory for Storvreta in opening game against Falun (+Highlights)

A few months ago, Storvreta – Falun was the final of SSL’s season 18/19. Now, the teams met again during round 1 of this year’s SSL season and again, Storvreta was the stronger team.

Casper Backby opened the score for the visitors, but Storvreta grew into the game and equalized right before the end of the period. It was Niklas Winroth, assisted by Albin Sjögren, who tied the score. During the second period, Storvreta was the stronger team, with more and better chances than its opponent. Two of these chances were monetized, putting the team in a 3-1 lead after forty minutes.

In the last period, Omar Aldeeb helped Falun to equalize the score to 3-3. First, he assisted Rasmus Enström, followed by an assist on Emil Johansson. This third goal was scored with seven seconds left in the game. In overtime, both teams had opportunities to score the winning goal, but the victory went to Storvreta. Albin Sjögren, who had been involved in all goals so far, found the net after a fast counter-attack. He ended the game with 4 (2+2) points.
