This weekend Canada and the USA fight for the last WFC ticket

With fifteen (of sixteen) teams qualified for the World Floorball Championships, we’ve almost finished the qualification tournaments. Almost – as one more team needs to qualify. This weekend: Canada vs. the USA.

The WFC will be held in the Czech Republic, making the team itself qualify automatically. Three Asians teams (Japan, Singapore and Thailand) plus Australia were the countries that qualify during the AOFC tournament. After that, ten more European countries made it to the final round. This weekend, Canada and the USA fight in a double event for the last WFC ticket.

Today at 16.00 CET, the first game between them starts off, followed by one tomorrow at the same time. Both games will be played in Canada. A short history: the teams met eleven times during official games. The USA won six times, Canada five times. However, of the last seven games they team played, Canada only won once! Their last match was during the WFC 2016, in which the USA won 1-0, thus qualifying for The World Games. Can Canada get their revenge this weekend?

Rosters of Team Canada and Team USA can be found online. Live streams will be provided by the IFF, but will also be online on our site.

Saturday February 2 16.00 (CET): Canada – USA
