This Saturday will be Super Saturday, as three of the biggest competition will have their final day of the season.
In Sweden, Falun and Storvreta meet, while in Finland, Classic and Happee fight for the championship. In the Czech Republic, it’ll be Vítkovice facing Mlada Boleslav. But how did Vítkovice do so far?
In the regular competition, the team ended up at third place. The team only lost three times and won 23 times (of which five in overtime). One of their most impressive victories was the 3-10 win against… Boleslav. By becoming third, Vítkovice qualified for the playoffs and met #7 Tatran Stresovice in the quarterfinals. Despite a 2-8 loss in the first game, the team made it to the semifinals after winning the following four games. However, it was more than close: 4-3 (penalty shots), 5-6 (overtime), 3-4 (overtime), 4-3 (overtime).
In the semifinals, top team Chodov became Vítkovice’s opponent. However, it did never get really close. Vítkovice took a 3-0 lead (5-6, 3-7, 7-6 in overtime), saw Chodov won game 4 after penalty shots, but won the fifth game in overtime (4-5), making it to the Czech Superfinal.
Players to watch are Lukáš Hájek (8+6) and Adam Delong (9+5), who both gained 14 points during the playoffs. Josef Rýpar follows at 11 (5+6) points, while also Martin Tokoš joined the team midseason, hunting for his second prize. Second? Yes, the team beat Boleslav also in the cup final: 2-1 after penalty shots. If penalty shots will be involved in the finals, Tokos will definitely take one.
