In a game in which Danish goalkeeper Mike Trolle stood out, Germany took the victory and made it to the final ranking game for fifth place. Denmark moves on to the ranking game for the seventh place in the final WFC 2018 ranking, in which Latvia will be its opponent.
Despite taking ten shots on target in the first period, Germany didn’t manage to open the score. At 6:03, it was Mathias Glass who scored his third WFC goal. The 18-year-old was assisted by Daniel Nygaard Morup. No further goals were scored in this period, but the Germans turned the game around during the final part of the second period. Within two minutes, brothers Niklas (1-1) and Janos Bröker (1-2) found the net and put Germany in the lead. Mathias Glass scored the equalizer right in the second period and scored his second goal of the day. It went back and forth but Erik Schuschwary’s powerplay goal put Germany in the lead. Janos Broker’s second goal of the match ended Danish dreams in the final minutes of the match.
