Day 2 of the U19 WFC is over! The Czech Republic managed to give its incredible start a follow up with another victory. Reigning champion Finland also won its second game. Here you can find everything that you missed from Division A.
Norway – Finland 4-9 (highlights)
The reigning world champions took a 0-2 lead, but Norway fought its way back and equalized. The Finns didn’t panic and took control of the game, led by hattrick hero Joakim Lund.
Switzerland – Latvia 6-5 (highlights)
Latvia was incredibly close to making the stunt of the tournament. Knowing that only the top 2 of group A would qualify for the playoffs, the Latvians were aware that a win against Switzerland would give them at least second place since Switzerland ended their first match against Finland with a loss. Even though the Latvian team didn’t start the game optimally and the players were looking at a 1-3 deficit, Switzerland could never get rid of the well-playing Latvians. This resulted in a beautiful game, in which two Swiss goals in the last period turned out to be enough to pull the crucial game to the Swiss side.
Czech Republic – Denmark 12-2 (highlights)
After their tremendous start of the tournament – they beat Sweden 1-5 – the Czechs now met an easier opponent: Denmark. The team showed eagerness and took a 4-0 lead against the Danes within the first period already. The Czech Republic kept on pressing and scoring (four goals from Matej Havlas), which led to the final result of 12-2.
Slovakia – Sweden 4-14 (highlights)
After a stinging loss against Czech Republic, today’s game against Slovakia was a must-win for Sweden. The team showed resilience and, although the loss in the opening round must have hurt, the young Swedes were able to take a comfortable victory against Slovakia.
