The clash of the Ahlroth brothers

In the hottest game of the weekend, giants Storveta IBK will take on last year’s playoffs finalists Växjö Vipers. The game itself will be worthy to follow, but an additional spice makes it even more interesting – the clash of the brothers Valdemar and Karljohan Ahlroth.

When Karljohan was signed by Växjö in the summer of 2016, he got to fight alongside together with his older brother throughout the entire season, all the way to the playoffs final where they lost to Falun in the final. That game ended up being their final one together (at least for now), as Valdemar was announced by Storvreta not too long after. So for the first time, we’ll get to see the brothers battle it out against each other in the Swedish Super League.

Not many siblings are as talented as the Ahlroth brothers, who’ve both represented the Swedish U19 national team earlier in their career. Both of them also joined Växjö at the same age. A comparison from their debut season shows that Karjohan scored more points and had an higher per-game average than his older brother. In Valdemar’s debut season 2013/14 he scored 17 points in 30 games (0.57 average), while Karljohan did 26 points in 42 games last season, averaging 0.67 per game.
