What started off a a rather close quarterfinal ended up being a runaway victory for Switzerland 10-1 after a brilliant performance by the first line. Tomorrow they’ll play semifinal where Finland awaits.

Just like the quarterfinal between Finland and Slovakia, the underdogs stood up well in the early part of the game. After the game’s first 20 minutes, Switzerland were up only 2-1 against the Norwegians. Nadia Reinhard opened up with 1-0 with a long shot that with some luck made it into the net. Norway however replied through Julie Gidske’s breakaway goal to put them back on even ground. But before the period break, UHC Dietlikon’s Tanja Stella but the Swiss in a lead once again.

As the 2nd period begun, the Swiss gave themselves some breathing room by scoring 2 quick goals, punishing their opponents mistakes in the defence. Corin Rüttimann followed up by sniping in 5-1 halfway through the period. By the end of the period, Michelle Wiki put the Swiss in a comfortable 6-1 lead after some great team play with captain Flurina Marti and Nadia Reinhard involved.

The Swiss dominance continued in the game’s final period, not least from the first line who’d already had a great game. Corin Rüttimann begun by finding her 2nd goal of the game, followed by her line partner Michelle Wiki who completed her hat-trick and scored the 4th when she put in 9-1. Nadia Reinhard, also a piece of the dominating first line scored the final goal of the game with 3 minutes to go: 10-1.
