Storvreta takes 3 points in tight match against Pixbo

Storvreta took the lead three times in the game but Pixbo was never far away and even took the lead in the first period. However, in the final minutes of the third period, Pixbo had to concede to their guests. The game ended 4-7 for Storvreta.

In an entertaining first period, it was Storvreta to take the lead after just 18 seconds with a deadly sweeper shot from the side. However, Pixbo played best this period and was more energetic than Storvreta. This resulted in a 2-1 lead for the home team thanks to a great free ball goal by veteran Daniel Calebsson and a backhand shot by Charlie Sköld.

Storvreta quickly equalized when their high pressure paid off. The man who signed the goal was Mattias Samuelsson who came all the way from the back to net the ball after his forwards successfully pressured Pixbo behind their goal. A well-played counter by Jimmie Petterson and Mattias Samuelsson gave the team the lead for the second time in the match. Pixbo’s equalizer came soon after in powerplay through a goal of Jens Milesson but was quickly nullified by Michael Jansson. A Pixbo powerplay gave ample opportunity to draw the equalizer but it was seconds after its end that Pixbo cracked Storvreta’s defense with a pass of Martin Östholm going to Max Wahlgren’s stick.

The third period started with a powerplay opportunity for Pixbo – the penalty, 6 players on the field, rather foolishly taken in the final second of the second period. The two minutes of powerplay didn’t result in a goal but shortly afterward Storvreta retook the lead through a goal of Valdemar Alroth. Pixbo received a great opportunity one minute before the end when Mattias Samuelsson clung to Martin Östholm a bit too much according to the referee’s taste. What should have been a great opportunity for the equalizer instead meant another two Storvreta empty-net goals.
