The top eight teams that’ll qualify for the playoffs have remained at the same placements since last round. Below them however is a braid of ambiguity, at least above Team Thorengruppen who are still facing relegation dead last. Their defeat against Sirius brought the latter past both Höllviken and Jönköping, two teams with mixed results this round. While Jönköping brought down the internationally beloved Pixbo with 5-4 in overtime, Höllviken drew the shortest straw at home against Linköping.
AIK who’s been balancing between relegation and a new contract nestled their way out of the danger zone (for now) after the bottom fight against Örebro who are now facing relegation with Thorengruppen. A little anecdote from their game is Stefansson who have now scored the most amount of goals in the SSL (in 22 games), one goal ahead of both Galante (16 games played) and Wahlgren (23 games played).
The line between playoffs and getting a renewed contract isn’t the Great Wall of China anymore as both Sirius and Jönköping are three points away from Dalen. At the same time Dalen’s got the goal difference on their side, they’ve been closely followed for several rounds and we’re down to nine rounds before the start of the playoffs. It’ll naturally require an unearthly effort by the chasing teams to prove the top eight to be mortal, an especially tough task seeing as they have incredibly difficult games ahead of them in the upcoming rounds.
Worth mentioning is that Höllviken, AIK and Örebro have one game less played and are therefore not entirely out of the picture when it comes to chasing Dalen alongside Jönköping and Sirius, should they win their upcoming games that is.
