WFC 2016

Slovakia: “All players of the team are important segments of our ‘puzzle'”

Less than a month until the WFC 2016 starts. FloorballToday will show you all you need to know about the participating teams – with this time’s subject: Slovakia!

What has been your path towards the WFC?
Slovakia played the WFC Qualifcations in their home country. They had an impressive performance with wins on France (15-3), Iceland (11-0), Belgium (16-4) and Russia (7-4), but Sweden was a bridge too far who beat them with 20-1. With 4 wins and 1 loss, the team confidently qualified themselves for the WFC2016.

Our biggest strength is our teamwork and fighting spirit for our nation.”

What is your team’s goal for this edition?
Slovakia has big expectations for this WFC and aims for the quarterfinals. To do so, they must become 1st or 2nd in their group, which includes Denmark, Australia and Poland. Not the easiest group, but certainly possible.

Which three players should spectators keep an eye out and why?
There is not specifically one player to watch: “all players of the team are important segments of our ‘puzzle’. Every of them is exceptional.”

What are the strengths of your team?
As Slovakian team leader Peter Vrba states: “Our biggest strength is our teamwork and fighting spirit for our nation.”

What group game are you looking forward to most?
The Slovakian team does not favor one particular group match over the other. Every match is looked at with great anticipation because the team has never “played against Australia, Denmark and Poland on a final tournament.”
