Shocking start to SSL semifinals – Falun taken down by Linköping

In a massive upset against reigning champions IBF Falun, Linköping won the first semifinal game 5-9.

Together with Storvreta, Falun are considered favorites to win the gold medal. So far they’ve made it to the semifinals after finishing at 2nd place in the table, which resulted in them getting seeded against Linköping while league winners Storveta got Mullsjö.

Despite Linköping being known as a strong playoffs team, Falun are still favorites to win the best-of-seven series. They also got the perfect start to the game when Galante presented himself 3 minutes in by sniping in 1-0. However, less than 1 and a half period later they would find themselves being down 2-8 in a completely silenced Jalas Arena.

A minor comeback began halfway into the game when Aldeeb and Larsson reduced to 4-8, which was followed up with 5-8 by Enström shortly after the 3rd period started. But when Felix Lanver completed his hat-trick by scoring the final goal of the game, the energy completely ran out of Falun who completely fell flat in the opening to the SSL semifinals.
