A tough battle awaited the Norwegian qualifier Greåker in the first men quarterfinals of today. The team faced Czech champions Chodov in a physical and tense fight.
The first period started with a bang for Chodov with a goal less than a minute in by former Pixbo forward Patrik Doza. Chodov continued to play with much confidence and by the end of the period the score board read 4-1.
The reducer fell just a couple of minutes in the second period after the Norwegians optimally used a power play advantage. However, two quick goals scored by Patrik Doza quickly ended the dreams for Greåker. By the end of the second period the score board read 7-2 for the Czech team.
A shorthanded goal early by Greåker in the third period surprised the audience – bringing the score to 7-4. Chodov remained calm, however, and even though the game seemed messy at time, managed to take the ticket to the semifinals with confidence.
Their opponent will not be an easy one, however, since Storvreta will be at the other side of the rink.
