The first weekend at the WFC is over! A quick video overview of Day 2 can be seen here. Here’s your daily recap:
Day 2 – Sunday 4 December
At the end of the second WFC day we can already see some changes in the group rankings. Germany and Estonia (Group A) are among the heavyweights Finland and Switzerland. Both teams needed the points, but the game finished in a 6-6 tie after a crazy comeback. Finland won its game vs. Switzerland (6-4), but it was a tough battle in which Switzerland got back from 3-1 to 4-4 and had quite a bizarre ending.
In group C Poland and Slovakia played their first game at this year’s WFC. Here one could see a good comeback as well, but in the end Slovakia turned out to be too strong: 6-4. In group D USA was clearly the better team vs. Canada. The North American derby ended in an 8-1 score. The other game played in that group was Thailand – Singapore, in which Thailand completely wiped away their opponent: 8-2!
The battle between Latvia and Czech Republic (Group B) was a tough one for the home country. Despite the truly enthusiastic audience the Czechs showed to be stronger and better, especially in their counter attacks. Final score was 3-9, so Latvia still has 0 points.
