The current WFC is almost reaching its climax, but the IFF Central Board is working hard on next year’s tournaments too. It has now been decided the WFC 2022 will be played in Switzerland. More interesting: the tournament takes places in October and November and will take nearly 3,5 weeks.
The IFF just announced the news that they’ve appointed the Swiss Floorball Association as organizer of the Men’s World Floorball Championships 2022. The event will be played between 20.10 – 13.11.2022. This is a different time frame than usual, due to the fact that the Football World Cup will be played in December 2022. The mentioned dates don’t specifically mean the WFC will take up to almost a month, but more information will follow later today during a special press conference.
Secretary-General of the Swiss Floorball Association, Michael Zoss, said: “We are very happy after 2012 to have the floorball family back in Zürich. The WFC in Prague has set the mark and we take the challenge to top this. We expect the WFC 2022 to boost the overall development of floorball and the event to be a great success, says Mr. Michael Zoss, Secretary General of the Swiss Floorball Association.”
The next men’s WFC will be hosted by Helsinki (Finland) in 2020. In 2019, Neuchatel (Switzerland) will organize the women’s WFC, while in 2021, Uppsala (Sweden) is the host city. The previous time that Switzerland hosted the Men’s WFC was in 2012 (Bern and Zürich).
