It got as close as it possibly could get against Salems IF in the second round of SSL qualifiers. In the final game of the best-of-three series, Kalmarsund won 3-4 in overtime meaning they’ll play in the Swedish Super League next season.
After losing the first game to Salem 8-1, things were looking rough for Kalmarsund. But when the return game was played on their home turf, they struck back and won with even bigger numbers; 9-0. Going into game 3, the feeling this could go both ways.
And it was close throughout the entire game. Before the first minute had been completed, Salem’s Samiel Fseha opened up with 1-0. But Kalmarsund replied 7 minutes later through Adam Nilsson, Kim Nilsson’s little brother. The entire game was Salem being in a lead 1-goal lead followed by an equalizer from Kalmarsund.
The final equalizer, 3-3, came from the match hero William Larsson. In the 13th minute of the final period, found the net and kept Kalmarsund alive. In the 8th minute of overtime, Larsson scored the deciding goal, meaning Kalmarsund will play in the Swedish Super League next season.
