Two teams with a lot to play for was the case when FC Helsingborg took on AIK. Helsingborg, who’re looking to secure their playoffs spot took 3 points against an AIK who’re running the risk of relegation.
It was Joel von Reis, who came back from a loan to Munka Ljungby 2 months ago who opened up the game by scoring on a rebound, doubling the amount of goals scored for Helsingborg this season. As Oskar Hagberg was sent off 2 minutes, only 11 seconds passed before Linus Nordgren sniped in 2-0, the final goal of the period.
In a dominant 2nd period where AIK only had 1 shot on target, Helsingborg extended their lead to 5-0. First through Nicklas Lidholm already before a minute had passed. Captain Mika Kohonen then showed the way on a penalty, and at last 18 year old Fredi Petersson found 5-0.
AIK, otherwise known as an offensive force, struggled to find the net all the way until the end of the 3rd period when Axel Larson reduced to 5-1 with his backhand with roughly 4 minutes to go. The glimmer of hope they got was quickly taken away by von Reis who replied with his 6-1. goal. Just before the game was over Kjellbris found 6-2, but to no celebration as relegation is getting close to becoming a reality for AIK.
Helsingborg, on the other hand, can celebrate the fact that they’re about to secure a spot in the playoffs. However it’s not completely decided yet as they still have Dalen, Thorengruppen, and Storvreta to play.
