Clear favorites heading into this quarterfinal Czech Republic delivered what was expected from them and defeated Poland 10-4. A tougher opponents is ahead in the semi’s: reigning champions Sweden.
After almost 9 minutes had passed neither of the teams had yet to found the net. But in a time span of 6 minutes between the 9th and 15th minute the Czech’s completely exploded and scored 5 straight goals to take over the game. Pixbo Wallenstam’s Eliska Krupnova assisted Hana Konickova for 1-0 and Nela Kapcova for the following goal.
After a tough start to the game, Poland recovered during the break and actually won the 2nd period 2-1. Katarzyna Rogala stood for the first goal after 4 minutes, and roughly halfway through the game Katarzyna Fula scored their second goal using her backhand.
When Anna Raczkowska opened up the 3rd period by scoring 6-3 for the Poles already after 40 seconds, things were getting nervous in the Czech side. However their 18 year old talent Nela Jirakova took away some pressure by extending their lead to 7-3. Minutes passed without another goal from any of the teams until the 55th minute when Hana Konickova put the nail in the coffin with her 8-3 goal. Before the game was over, Nela Kapcova completed her hat-trick and Magdalena Plaskova scored her 3rd point with the final goal of the game: 10-4.
