Germany: “Never stop fighting” (Team Introduction)

Less than a week until the WFC 2016 starts. FloorballToday will show you all you need to know about the participating teams – with this time’s subject: Germany!

What has been your path towards the WFC?
“We started in September 2015 with our #RoadToRiga with a close loss against Switzerland. Then we played in Denmark in November. The qualification was a good tournament with the result we needed. The Polish Open in September 2016 and our StenaLine Tournament were great chances to test some young players.”

What is your team’s goal for this edition?
“Our goal is to reach the quarterfinal and finish in the Top 8.”

Which 3 players should spectators keep an eye out and why?
#9 Benjamin Borth – Germany’s captain, who plays in the Swiss NLA (HC Rychenberg).
#14 Sebastian Herrmann – He’s got perfect skills and fighting spirit.
#25 Jan Niklas Buckermann – A big talent who showed great progression during the last months.

What are the strengths and weaknesses of your team?
Germany never stops fighting, a big strength. Their weakness might be they have a lot of young players, who are less experienced than the older players.

What group game are you looking forward to most?
The team faces Finland, Estonia and Switzerland in the group phase. They’re looking forward most to the battle against Estonia.

What are your thoughts about floorball entering the World Games?
“It’s a great chance for floorball to make the next big step. For us it would be great to be a part of it. Also, it’s a great chance to meet other athletes from around the world!”
