This Saturday a very special floorball match will be played, not specifically because of the teams, but because of the location. Finnish teams Classic and TPS play their game in Singapore.
You might think “shouldn’t those teams be at home, playing their official competition games” – but they are! It’s the first time an official Salibandyliiga competition game is being played outside Finland. The teams not only compete to each other, they also host clinics for more than fifty schools. Next to that, both teams will train together with the national men’s team of Singapore.
On the IFF site is mentioned the idea has been developed during last year’s World Floorball Championships. Singapore currently has around 15.000 floorball players, while this event might boost this number even higher. At the moment, Classic is the leader in the competition, while TPS is at 4th place. The game will be played on Saturday, November 18th, starting at 19.00 local time. The event will be broadcasted in Finland (TV5), starting at 11.55 CET. Whenever live streams are available, we’ll let you know.
