Everything you need to know about the first round of SSL qualifiers

Kim Nilsson's Kalmarsund are going up against Karlstad in the first round.

Interesting times lie ahead as we will soon get to know which teams will take AIK and Thorengruppen’s spots in next season’s Swedish Super League. Here’s the entire schedule and information for the SSL qualifiers round 1.

Northern Allsvenskan

G1: Salems IF (1) – Strängnäs IBK (3)
18/3 Salem – Strängnäs (17:00 CET)
21/3 Strängnäs – Salem (19:00 CET)
24/3 Salem – Strängnäs (15:00 CET)

League winners Salems IF is a team that’s been on the rise for the last years. This will be their first qualifier as league winners, and they’re playing against Omar Aldeeb’s former club Strängnäs IBK. Winner of this series will play either Kalmarsund or Karlstad.

G2: Hagunda IF (2) – Djurgårdens IF (4)
18/3
Hagunda – Djurgården (16:30 CET)
22/3 Djurgården – Hagunda (19:00 CET)
24/3 Hagunda – Djurgården (TBA)

Fredrik Holtz team for next season is Hagunda who, if they were to qualify, would be the 3rd Uppsala team in the SSL (together with Sirius and Storvreta). But first, they have to make it through a best-of-three against Djurgården, a club similar to AIK – a historical Stockholm based team, and is one of the biggest sports clubs in the country. Winner of this series will play either Warberg or Lindås.

Southern Allsvenskan

G3: Warberg IC (1) – Lindås IBK (4)
18/3 Warberg – Lindås (16:00 CET)
22/3 Lindås – Warberg (19:00 CET)
25/3 Warberg – Lindås (16:00 CET)

One of the greatest floorball club of all time, Warberg IC, relegated from SSL last season, but have bounced back and won the Southern league. Their pick is 4th placed Lindås, a team who they’ve actually lost to twice this season. Winner of this series will play either Hagunda or Djurgården.

G4: FBC Kalmarsund (2) – Karlstad IBF (3)
18/3
Kalmarsund – Karlstad (15:00 CET)
20/3 Karlstad – Kalmarsund (19:00 CET)
24/3 Kalmarsund – Karlstad (15:00 CET)

Kim Nilsson’s Kalmarsund and Adam Colling’s Karlstad, 2 teams and world-class players with clear SSL ambitions are going head to head already in the first round, in perhaps the most exciting qualifier series. Winner of this series will play either Salem or Strängnäs.

8 teams are competing for 2 spots in the next season’s SSL – the top 4 from the Northern and Southern Allsvenskan. A team has to go through 2 best-of-three series in order to qualify. The first round is played between league rivals, and in the 2nd one Northern teams will play Southern in another best-of-three.
