The 7th place was at stake in the first match of the final day of the WFC2017 between Poland and Norway. Poland was by far the stronger team and won the game with 12-3.
It was clear from the start that Poland was simply the better team today. The team showed way more energy and occasionally turned the Norwegian defense into a laughing affair. Faster to the ball and making use of gaps the Polish climbed to a 3-0 lead in the first period thanks to goals of Elzbieta Piotrowska, Agata Arendarczyk, and Justyna Krzywak.
In the second period, the Polish continued to dominate the game. With the same energy as in the first, they increased the lead to 7-0. Norwegian defense was often nowhere to be found while the players were quickly cornered in when they attempted to attack. Finally, 13 minutes in the second period Norway found an answer when Kristine Naess Haug deflected a shot to score Norway’s first goal. Just 30 seconds later, Norway signed also the 7-2 with a goal from Tone Einstulen and it seemed for a moment Norway had found some fire in their play but Poland repacked themselves and a fantastic solo move by Malgorzata Pazio was rewarded with the Polish 8-2.
To give credit to the team: the Norwegians tried their best the first minutes of the final period. But, today, Poland was just too strong. It was 3 minutes into the final period Poland scored the 9-2 followed by the 10-2 half-way the final period. Another great solo run by Agata Arendarczyk gave 11-2 to the Polish and marked her 4th goal of the day. An unfortunate ending came to an unfortunate match for Norway when the team made an own goal right after they scored their third goal themselves: 12-3.Join the Floorball Worldwide Facebook Group
