The first game of the World Floorball Championships 2018 is over and team Denmark got its first points by defeating Thailand: 11-2.
During the first period of the game, Thailand got a lot of chances, but Denmark found the net. First captain Cecilia Di Nardo outplayed three Thai (1-0) and later Nanna Sorensen doubled the lead. However, Thailand got many chances, but Danish goalkeeper Sara Lund stopped all eight shots.
In the first minute of the second period, Thailand scored its first WFC goal ever – a historical moment. The team grew stronger, but the gameplay of both teams weakened and became chaotic. Halfway the game, Denmark recovered en started dominating the game. This led to two quick goals (Nanna Sorensen, Klara Fjorder) and a 4-1 lead after forty minutes.
When Denmark scored 5-1 (Di Nardo), the game seemed over, but Thailand didn’t give up. After getting another goal against (6-1 by Lina Voldby), the Thai scored their second goal: 6-2 by Jennifer Bergase. With the big lead, Martin Lytje (head coach) had the opportunity to change the goalkeeper and switch up the lines a bit. Denmark kept on scoring and put the final result at 11-2.
