David Gillek retired a couple of weeks ago after a long and impressive career. Now Mullsjö announces his return as an assistant trainer next to Andreas Elf where he will be responsible for the SSL team’s offensive game.

“It felt perfectly right to say yes when I was asked by the club. To stay active in the highest levels of floorball, in a new role feels challenging and inspiring. That’s something I had as a goal at the end of my career as a player.”

David Gillek gained exposure thanks to his willpower, hot temper, drive and goal awareness. During his time as a player, he evoked many emotions. As he enters his role as an assistant coach, he hopes to bring all his strengths as player and leader and channel them to the team.

“I hope to contribute a lot of energy and I believe that all my experience as a player will be of great benefit in my mission as an assistant coach.”

David Gillek becomes responsible for the offensive game. Johan Kihlblom continues as an assistant coach in charge of the defensive game.

“It will be really fun to get a place in the staff in my mother club. It feels like they have a lot of confidence in me.”

When David Gillek announced that he would end a few weeks ago, tributes came from all over the world. Certainly nothing strange considering the star he was until the end of his career. With 584 points, he is one of the top points in the history of Super League. Despite that, he was a little surprised by all the tribute when the message was given.

“Yes, I was not really prepared for it, but it warmed my heart and made me feel even more proud of my career. Having touched so many people, both good and bad, it feels great, says Gillek, who wishes to thank for all the tribute and fine words he has received from fans and floorball enthusiasts around Sweden.

Mullsjö’s sports director Jesper Axell is very pleased with the strengthening of the leadership team and that he quickly found a way to engage David Gillek in the club.

“I am extremely grateful that we managed to find a place for David in the club even after his playing career. He has good knowledge, a big heart for the club and a winning mentality. But above all, Gillek will contribute new energy from leadership. The contract extends over a season but our plan is significantly longer than that, “says Jesper Axell in a press release.
