Classic lifts Finnish Cup trophy after defeating Happee in overtime

10 Months after the Finnish Championships, the two rivals Classic and Happee were again playing for a prestigious price. This time the Finnish Cup was at stake. Classic won the match with 3-2 in overtime and took the cup for the second time in a row.

721 spectators came to see the match to crown the Finnish Cup champions of 2018/2019. Set in Tampere, it was the tournament MVP of WFC2018, Joonas Pylsy, to open the score at the end of the first period. Vili Liponen equalized the score at the start of the second period but the game continued to be incredibly tight with small margins. In the final period it was again Liponen to surprise the Classic defense and for a moment it looked like Happee was going to get away with a marginal win. However, Eemeli Salin made the important equalizer and pulled the game towards overtime. After 9 minutes and 41 seconds, it was Classic’s sniper Sami Johansson to settle the deal. Soon after, the team lifted the Finnish Cup trophy.
