The AOFC cup is about to start. The tournament is organized by the Asia Oceania Floorball Confederation and will start in two days, on Sunday, July 7.
It’s the third time the AOFC cup gets organized and the second time the men play. In 2017, Thailand hosted the tournament and also became the first winner. In 2018, the women’s team from Singapore won the cup, while they too were the home team.
Does this mean the current home team will win the 2019 edition? Chances seem small: the tournament is being organized by the Philippines, number 35 on the world ranking. In comparison: Thailand (14), Singapore (16) and Japan (17) are ranked a lot higher. On Sunday, the tournament starts, so from then on, we’ll find out.
Eight teams have joined the tournament, split into two groups:
Group A: Thailand (14), Korea (21), Malaysia (25), Pakistan (-)
Group B: Singapore (16), Japan (17), Philippines 35), India (37)
The teams face all three group members in the first rounds. After that, the winner of both groups moves on to the semifinal directly, while numbers 2 and 3 get another chance to reach the semifinals too. More information can be found in the match schedule, which can be found below.
The written starting times are local time (LT) and Central European Time (CET). The links to the games will be published on our website, half an hour before the start of each game.
