The long awaited playoffs has finally arrived to the Swedish Super League. In 4 series, 8 teams will battle it out in a best-of-7 series to get one step closer to the Ericsson Globe Arena.

Quarterfinal 1: IBF Falun – FC Helsingborg
League winners Falun got to pick their opponent first for the quarterfinal, and chose FC Helsingborg who finished at 8th place in the table. When FCH took on Falun in the 10th round that was played in October, they drew 3-3. The 2nd time they played Falun won 6-5. Despite close results in both games, the Falun players are confident that they have the best chance against Helsingborg.

Quarterfinal 2: Växjö Vipers – Pixbo Wallenstam
Växjö, who’ve only been improving every season ever since they joined SSL, ended up in the 2nd place in the table. Pixbo, who’ve had a rather weak season finished at 7th place – they’ve are also known to be a team that struggles in the playoffs. Last season they won the league, but lost in the quarterfinal against Linköping. The exact same thing happened 2 years ago too, when they got the 1st place, but then lost to FC Helsingborg in the quarterfinal. This time they’re not considered to be favorites – could it somehow work in their favor?

Quarterfinal 3: Mullsjö – Linköping
With only 2 teams to pick; Linköping and Dalen, Mullsjö decided to go with the earlier one. Although a shorter travel for them, Linköping is on paper a stronger opponent than Dalen. They are a physical team and are known to step up in when it’s time for playoffs. They’ve made it to the finals 2 years in a row, the 2nd time against all odds. Because of the derby groups that was implemented this season, these teams have played each other 3 times. First time they drew 2-2, the 2nd time Mullsjö convincingly won 6-2, and the 3rd time Linköping won 6-5 in overtime.

Quarterfinal 4: Storvreta IBK – IBK Dalen
4th placed team Storvreta had no saying in what team they were going to play in the first playoffs round, and got matched against last year’s semifinalists IBK Dalen. Despite Storvreta being reigning champions and having a better placement in the league table, the results from this season goes in the favor of Dalen. They’ve played each other 3 times, which resulted in 2 victories for Dalen on home court, and a 4-4 draw in Storvreta’s IFU Arena.
